America Transformed: Revolutionary Change from 1941–2001
Overview
In the period between 1941-2001 the character of American life changed rapidly. In this fascinating discussion, historian Richard M. Abrams examines how the United States changed from World War II through the turn of the 21st century. Drawing from his book “America Transformed: Sixty Years of Revolutionary Change, 1941-2001” he offers a fresh (if not sometimes controversial) perspective while analyzing the sweeping “revolutions” in politics, culture, economics and social norms that reshaped American life.
A professor emeritus of history at the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Abrams was a Fulbright Professor at the University of London and at Moscow State University. He previously taught at his alma mater, Columbia University, and has lectured widely abroad—including in Norway, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Ukraine, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand. He is author of several books and co-editor of “The Shaping of Twentieth-Century America.”
